ReplyDelete^ Eh... What? ^
ReplyDeleteI did this!
Here it is:
ReplyDeleteThe first of the two books that I read over the summer is Atherton: The Dark Planet.
1.The idea I remember is how polluted it said the earth was in the future.
2.That decisions today effect the future.
3.This is a very good book and I would recommend it to likers of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action, and Mystery.
The book I read over the summer was Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer.
ReplyDelete1)The thing I remember most about this book was Edward and Bella's wedding or when Bella got turned into a vampire.
2)Prepare for your future well.
3)I think it's a great book and would reccomend it to anyone who likes fantasy, romance, or vampire books.
I read New Moon by Stepahanie Meyer
ReplyDelete1. I remember the idea that once you find true love, you can never be seperated. No matter what!
2. Teens will learn that there will always be hard decisions that we will have to make.
3.I think your typical teenage girl would love this book because it plays out a romantic fantasy that you couldnt dream of.
Over the summer I read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.
ReplyDelete1. One interesting thing I remember from this book is the fact that they had one daughter to save their other daughters life.
2. One lesson I think that teens should learn form this book is that you always have to stay strong, no matter how hard it can get.
3. I would recommend this book to almost any teenager out there, but especially ones who like realistic fiction.
The book i read over the summer was The Lost Boy by Dave pelzer.
ReplyDelete1. One interesting thing i remember from this book is how even though his mom is a jerk all the time and is evil he still loves her for some reason.
2. A lesson I think teens should learn from this book is always stay strong no matter how hard your life is.
3. I would recommend this book to teens who like nonfictional books and sad books but turn around in the end and its still sad but not as sad.
the book that i read over the summer is "the things they carried" by:Tim O' Brien
ReplyDelete1.I thought it was brave that the men who fuaght in the vietnam war had to leave everythnig behind- families, jobs, normal living. along the way of reading the book it tells you some interesting things about what the men carried (from home and such).
2.one lesson teenagers would learn is that you cant run away from reality, you have to face it, and follow through on things.
3.i would recommend this book to teens who like learning about war and learning about how the men in the war felt, and what they "carried" (emotionally, and physically)
One book i read over the summer was My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult.
ReplyDelete1. An interesting idea i remember from this book was that the youngest daughter was genetically made to save her sister.
2. One lesson teens should learn from this book is to fight for your life and everything you do in it no matter the obstacles you may run into.
3. I think that teenage girls would really enjoy this book because it is sad, funny, and happy. it was probably the best book I've ever read.
One book i read over the summer was The Pact by Jodi Picoult.
ReplyDelete1. An interesting idea i remember from the book was the idea that you could love someone so much that you would do anything for them, including that if they wished to die you would help them commit suicide? how is it possible to love someone that much?
2.I think a lesson for teenagers in this book was that the truth isnt always right in front of your face sometimes its hidden and you have to search for it.
3. I think students who like books from alot of peoples perspectives would like this book. I also think students who like being drawn into their characters feelings would love this book. This book is the best book i have ever read.
What book I read over the summer was Petey by Ben Mikaelsen
ReplyDelete1. An interesting idea from the book was that Petey was different from other babies, but this one 9 year old treat him differently from the others.
2. One lesson that teenagers might learn from my book is people shouldn't treat others if they are different, but treat everyone the same.
3. I recommend this book to every teenager who enjoys sad and happy things, but also the things what peoples think of other people.
I read The Secret Life of the Bees by Sue Monk Kidd over the summer.
ReplyDelete1. An interesting idea from the book was that when someone you love dies you will sometimes use the next closest person to take your anger out on. Lilly's dad was so angry that when the mother died she was leaving him he took all his anger out on Lilly and was a terrible person to her.
2.One lesson teenagers might learn from this book is that when someone is mean it is usually because they are hurting.
3. Teenagers that had someone they love die should read this book, but overall everyone should read this book. It was one of the best books I ever read.
One of the books I read over the summer was Born in Sin by Evelyn Coleman.
ReplyDelete1. An interesting idea that I gained from this book is that not all athletes come from a wealthier family. For example this book is a story of a girl who lives in the ghetto and has a VERY difficult life but dreams of making it the Olympics as a swimmer.
2. One lesson that teenagers and pretty much anyone can gain from this book is that if you follow your heart you can accomplish anything no matter how difficult life can be.
3. The type of person who may like this book is someone who enjoys inspirational stories and realistic fiction.
One of the books I read this summer was Conned by G. Robbins.
ReplyDelete1. An intersting fact from this book was that the main character stole 3 million dollars from this girl's exhusband to help pay hosptial bills for his only son who got beat up. He stole for this family.
2. One lesson that teenagers can learn is that stealing is wrong regardless of the reason. We should always make the right decisions to resolve issues.
3. Anyone who enjoys thrillers and suspense will enjoy this book. It also teaches a good life lesson.
I read Forbidden Boy by Hailey Abbott over the summer.
ReplyDelete1. An interesting idea from the book is that if you find true love then you should TRY not to let it go, BUT you should also choose the right thing, even if that may mean letting him/ her go...
2. One lesson teenagers might learn from this book is that you should always fight for what you believe is right. In the book, Julianne falls for Remi, but she finds out that he is the son of the horrible family who moved next door to her and is trying to force her family out of her beach home and destroy the beach by building a huge mansion on it. Her home meant a lot to her, her sister, and dad because it was her mom's dream house and they finally got it, but then her mom recently died. So she lets Remi go to help her own family fight for the right to keep her house.
3. I think a lot of people would enjoy this book, mostly girls. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes kind of "girly-teen books".
One book i read this summer was Animal Farm by George Orwell.
ReplyDelete1. One interesting thing about this book was that it was about the Communism in Russia. All the animals were representing the government in the Soviet Union. Snowball is representing Leon Trotsky and Napoleon is representing Joseph Stalin.
2. The government is a serious and sometimes scary thing. This book shows that when someone gains to much control they become to powerful and make decisions that are bad and benefit themselves more than the people that they are governing.
3. I would recommend this book to students who are interested in history and learning about communism and what happened in the Soviet Union before WWII.
One book that I read over the summer was called The Firm by John Grisham.
ReplyDelete1. One interesting idea from the book is that no matter how smart you are and even if you are one of the best at what you do, you should always be aware what job you sign on for because everything is not always real/ true.
2. A lesson I think teens should learn from this book is to always keep a positive attitude no matter how hard life is.
3. I defiantly would recommend this book to students who like a suspenseful fiction that has many cliff hanging chapters and a relieving ending.
I read the book Atherton The Dark Planet

One book that I read this summer was Deep Down Popular written by Phoebe Stone.
ReplyDelete1. One idea that I remember from this book was that a very unliked and unpopular girl got to live her dream, but had to do it by taking advantage of someone's disability.
2. What a teenager might learn from this book is that dreams really do come true. If you are patient, understanding, and tolerant, then you will find that in some cases you may get your way. Sometimes if you don't let go of a dream it may come true, like it did in this book.
3. One person that I think would like this book is my very good friend Sam. She would like it, because it is an inspirational story. 2. One lesson that teenagers could learn from reading this book, is to not take this story for granted. This is what the war was really like from two actual veterans. Not some cookie cutter war movie that makes the characters look like heros, and its all a happy ending. This book is for real.

One of the books I read this summer was "Wicked:The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire
ReplyDelete1. One thing i remember from this book is that no person however evil they seem is never entirely evil and they may actually be misunderstood.

Summer Reading ‘09
ReplyDeleteKara K.
· An interesting idea from, My Sister’s Keeper, is that Anna was a designer baby to help her sister, Kate, fight leukemia. A designer baby is a baby that was only conceived to help a human being. Anna was given no choice in whether or not she wanted to help Kate, although her parents thought it was a good idea. Her parents never thought of the fact that Anna didn’t want to go through surgery. Ever since Anna was born, she had surgery after surgery to replace a kidney, to give leukocytes, white blood cells, or give blood transfusions. My view on this topic is that it’s unfair to Anna to have to go through all this. However when she was young I think it was okay for her to donate anything to Kate to try to help her, but as Anna got older she should have had the right to be emaciated, or have the right to her own body. She should have had the choice whether or not she wanted to help Kate.
· One lesson teenagers might learn from this novel is that family is the most precious gift anyone is given, and if you don’t treasure it then you may lose everything in a blind of an eye. Anna learned this throughout the novel, she learned that you have to be thankful for what you have.
· I would recommend My Sister’s Keeper to anyone who wishes to read a heartfelt novel that captivates you in every way possible. This book is good for all ages and mainly females.
The book I read was called solgers hear by Gary Palson. my favrit part of the book is when the reble solger is in the union camp site and the main caricter sees him and looks at him right in the eyes and said "why are we fighting" and he reasponded " I ask myself that to." A lesson you learn with this book is dont juge anyone by there size, because the union thought it was going to be a quick fight then the south was very good fighters. I recimend this book for anyone who is interested in war or the civil war because this book is non-ficshun.

In the book Speak a girl named Melinda had a very tough freshman year, everyone hated her for a mistake she did over the summer vacation. During the book she found an abandoned janitor closet which she called her own, when times were toughest she'd skip class and lounge in the closet. She probably didnt think through the fact of her grades dropping fast and how it would effect her in the future.
2. consider one lesson that teenagers might learn from your book:
In this book Melinda over the summer stupidly went to a senior rave party where there was beer and drugs, she had a beer or two, she didnt like it but she wanted to be cool so she had more and more til she was semi drunk and confused. There were many lessons within this book but most of all it was to never drink under aged.
