ReplyDelete1.) Odysseus made new immpressions on us, because he developed new attitudes. Odysseus seems more selfish and greedy, when he had food to share, he chose not too, which does not benefit anyone but him.
2.) Circe's main weapon is distraction, she held the men in her lustful castle for five years. Circe is a temptress, and bends men to her will, in this case, prevents them from going home. She's dangerous in her own way by not killing the men, but keeping the men in trying to make them forget about home. The cyclops is bad in his own way though, because he keeps them against their will and kills them.
3.) Eurylochus is Oddyseus' second man, when Eurylochus tells Oddyseus not to go to Circe, Odysseus does not listen, and goes against Eurylochus' will. This shows that Oddyseus is independent and prideful, because he thinks he can do everything by himself.
4.) Oddyseus is a balance between heroic and anti-heroic in this episode. Oddyseus is heroic in this episode, because he goes to bed with Circe for his men, when he knows his loyalty to his wife. He is also brave by going alone to risk his life for his men. Oddyseus is anti-heroic, because he is selfish when he takes the food for himself, and he betrays his men by pleasuring himself.
5.) Circe tells Oddyseus that he needs to be a man by going to bed with her. Circe would be temptation, because she presents a challenge by keeping the men there, and she is an influencer. Oddyseus does not overcome Circe, because he gives in to her temptation.

ReplyDelete1. Odysseus is a playa and he is weak. He is cheating on his wife and he is stupid. He is easily tempted.
2.Cerci is more powerful than the cyclops because she changed all of his men into animals and tempted Odysseus to sleep with her. She killed more men than the cyclops too. She uses her charm to reel them in.
3. Eurylochus cares more about the other men and isn't selfish. Odysseus wants to fight Cerci and Eurylochus want to run away from her. After the first group of men are transformed Oysseus wants to go get his men and Eurylochus wants to leave.
4.He is willing to sacrifice himself for his men. He is a leader, very commanding and always knows what to do. He falls into tricks and traps easily. He is selfish too when he eats the food they find.
5. Cerci helped Odysseus realize how much he misses his wife. He needs to overcome his wife and man up.
1. After watching the part of the the movies with Circe, Odysseus shows that he he can be easily tempted by so far every thing that has been throw at him. But he also starts showing signs that he is faithful to his wife in a weird way. He sleeps with Circe, but he won't stay because he misses his wife and wants to be back home.
ReplyDelete2. She is a danger to Odysseus in that the time inside of her palace travels slower the that of the rest of the world. so they are being delayed for returning to their homes. She is also a lot more dangerous then the cyclops because they don't know that they are in trouble. With the cyclops they kill the men quickly and without them being able to stop it. But with Circe, the men are slowly killed because they can't leave and they never know that the time is slowing down.
3. Odysseus in this episode shows that he is willing to take the men into danger and the unknown. While Eurylochus is against these thoughts.
eurylochus after Circe has transformed the men wants to leave th island. And Eurylochus also is against Cicre.
4. Odysseus also reveals qualities of being someone that will do everything in his power to save is men. but he also shows he gives in to the power of Circes without much of a fight. I find this to show that Odysseus in a good leader but also bring his men into danger a lot of time.
5. Circe is temptation. She shows Odysseus that by caving in he has now lost maybe his wife and 5 years of the journey. Odysseus needs learn that he needs to put his men first and to get to his goal he needs to put aside all temptations.
1. I think he betrayed his wife and he lost some of the aspects for a true man, and now he has to live with guilt all his life.
ReplyDelete2.Circe is dangerous because she is a distraction, persuasive, and she is very secretive about her powers and he has power over them for example she can turn them into different animals and she can trick any one of them, and she has power over time too. She is more of a danger then the cyclopes because she has more mental power unlike the cyclopes who will just kill you and she will ruin your life and make you work for her and use all of her many powers. She is also threatening for example she says, "Are you not sluggish with my wine? Ah, wonder! Never a mortal man drank this cup but when it passed his lips he had succumbed."
3.Eurylochus is more fearful of Circe, while Odyuessus thinks nothing of her and Eurylochus is the first to know that she is bad and she is the one turning them into animals, and he is afraid of her and knows the consequences about her and knows what might happen.
4. A heroic quality is that he will do anything for his men and he will do it will pride and knowing that it will all be ok and he never looks scared and he is brave, but that being said he has anti-heroic qualities saying that he cheated on his wife and now he has to live with that all his life.
5. She thinks he needs to learn how to be loyal and passionate about all the people he loves and all the people around him.

ReplyDelete1. We got a new impression that odyseesus that he is very cute and wanted by most woman because he has a wife and another woman and is very popular.
2. She is more dangerous than the cyclopes because she is very prossuaive and people can't say no to her. as said by the men " As we were men we could not help consenting." This shows that men can not say no to her.
3. odysseus charectistics that are revealed through this contrast is that odysessus is less smart then eurylochus because he does not fear circe like eurylochus does even thought odysessus is less self centered.
4. odyssesus reveales the anti heroic qualitie of being disloyal to his wife by cheating on her with circe, even though it might have been a good reason it still is not a good reason to be disloyal.
5. As a metaphor circe represents that odysessus needs to learn to be more mentally motivated rather than physically when it comes to making dissions. Even though Circe is tempting he needs to underdstand that its more about what is more mentally important then what is more physically important.
1.Hes more of a man and a stronger man
ReplyDelete2. She tells him things he wants
1. I think that Odysseus has betrayed his wife and I think that now he will probably have to live with guilt every time he sees his wife, if he ever does again, because he will have that memory forever.
ReplyDelete2. I think Circe is a danger to Odysseus's men because she distracts them from things they are supposed to do. And she can have power over them because she can turn them into animals and trap them in her palace for as long as she wants. I think she is more dangerous than the Cyclops because if you get captured by the Cyclops then you are just dead automatically, but Circe can manipulate you and trap you in animals bodies and make you do what she wants and keep you forever. The quote I got was, "Are you not sluggish with my wine? Ah, wonder! Never a mortal man that drank this cut but when it passed his lips he had succumbed."
3. I think that Odysseus and Eurylochus character's contrast because Odysseus is a lot braver than Eurylochus because Eurylochus was too scared to go into Circe's palace with the rest of the man, but Odysseus just followed Circe right inside to rescue his men.
4. I think that an anti-heroic quality of Odysseus was that he was disloyal to his wife, but then again, I think it was heroic of him to do that in a way because he didn't do it for selfish reasons, he did it to rescue his men from Circe's trap.
5. I think that Circe suggests that he should be loyal to all. He was being loyal to his men by saving him, but he was also being disloyal to his wife at the same time. So I think that she was trying to tell him to find a way to be loyal and honest to everybody that he cares about, not just some people.

ReplyDelete1).New impressions of Odysseus that we got were that he was very loyal to his men, but not to his wife. He's not as strong mentally as he is physically; he could not resist the temptation.
2). Circe is a danger to Odysseus by turning his crew into animals and making him cheat on his wife; taking away his dignity. Internally, Circe is more dangerous that Cyclops and cyclops is more dangerous physically.
Circe makes him give in and forget about his wife, as for cyclops challenges him physically.
3). Euylochus and Odysseus turn out to be against each other more as the story progresses.
4). Odysseus carries heroic qualities of protecting his men, being brave, strong (mentally and physically), and being a savior to his men. He gets his men out of situations and lacks cowardliness. He lacks the qualities of heroism, avoiding temptation and respect. He doesn't share food, and cheats on his wife which is very unloyal.
5). Circe suggests Odysseus needs to learn to avoid and fight against temptation.
1) I got an impression from odysseus tht he was more of a man, he wanted to rise to the challenge that Circe laid upon him. She threatened his manhood and his well being by asking him to have sex with her, and if he didn't, he wouldn't be a real man.
ReplyDelete2) Circe is dangerous to odysseus and his men because she turned the first group of men into animals. Then Odysseus went up to her place and put himself in grave danger by trying to get his men back. He slept with Circe and he was unharmed, I think that Circe was more of a danger because tha cyclopse was blinded and he was slow, and Circe was well rounded, smart, faster, and she had spells to use.
3) Odysseus revealed to us that he is independent, reliable, well off, and perfectly capable of taking care of things by himself. Eurylochus told odysseus not to go up to Circe because it was dangerous, buy he does not listen, and he goes up anyway. This action shows that Odysseus is and wanted to be reliable, countable, capable, and independent to do the job of bringing back the lost men.
4) Odysseus shows the heroic quality of standing up for everyone, and for going to see Circe in order to save the rest of the men. He has sex with Circe and saves the men, but while he lays with her, he still thinks of his wife and he never forgets his true loyalty, he made a sacrifice in order to save his men.
5) Circe suggests that Odysseus needs to be loyal to everyone who crosses his path. He was being loyal to his men by going to save the ones who were turned into animals, and he was being a good leader and a loyal person, but he also was disloyal. He slept with another woman, and was disloyal to his wife who was constantly on his mind. He suggests that he needs to find a hard way to be able to be fair and loyal to all who he comes into contact with.
